Slow and Steady

Welcome to February,

I hope this finds you well as we officially greet the second month of the new year. While this month is the shortest month of the year it’s also a time of big shifts as it moves us from the final full month of Winter here in the Northern Hemisphere into the quickening and the preview of the next season. One of my favorite things about this month is that we can choose to focus on the themes of the winter season while simultaneously enjoying signs of new life popping up around us all month long. You may find crocus and snow drop peeking out of the snow this month reminding you to keep going one step at a time. These tiny but mighty little flowers over winter and then work diligently to bloom this month often in the snow adding a little color and hope for all of us to keep going, reminding us that change is coming soon.

One of the strong themes that I’ve been hearing from people is that they feel a bit exhausted or that they’re having trouble keeping momentum. Maybe you’re experiencing this too; the feeling of one step forward one step back. Maybe you’re experiencing some big swings in your energy levels or even some issues with your sleeping schedule. If these themes are hitting home for you, you’re not alone. The beginning of this year has proven to be really intense and almost like riding a roller coaster ride that just keeps going. In addition to the new year shifts, we’re being guided to continue to focus on themes like self care, slowing down, rest, comfort, and gentility. Even though we’re experiencing longer days, we’re still overwintering which means we’re still needing extra care, comfort, and quiet. Sometimes, we need a little reset to help us get back to a space where we can truly rest and almost remember how to take good care of ourselves if we’ve experienced a great deal of stress. The good news is that seemingly small shifts really do lead to big change.

February is a wonderful month to invest in a reset and a conscious overwintering practice. As the teeniest month of the year, it feels like it’s more manageable somehow to focus on a practice that will support you this month and hopefully all year long. Sometimes, what we need personally for self care and respite looks similar to others in our lives, sometimes it doesn’t. Taking a little time today, even a few minutes to get clear about what you need will help you to better understand how to cultivate your overwintering practice this month. There’s no one way to do this, just the way that resonates for you. You may know right away without even skipping a beat what it is that you need, great, you’re on your way. You may feel there are a few things that you want to focus on to support yourself in getting back to a place where you feel like you; great, you’re on your way. Maybe you aren’t sure what you need but you know something needs to shift, great, you’re on your way. You get to decide what it is that you want to nurture and how to take good care of yourself this month; and whatever you decide will be the right choice.

Sometimes, setting aside 15 minutes a day to do something for yourself can make a huge impact in the way that you feel. When you think about taking care of someone, you can probably imagine one person receiving and another person or group offering support. When you’re focused on taking good care of yourself, sometimes you are the person taking care and receiving care at the same time. Every act of care is an investment in your overall energy stores and sense of peace and comfort. Maybe making and enjoying a cup of tea without scrolling or listening to the news or answering emails is one way you can truly take good care of yourself for a few minutes during the day. Maybe getting outside into sunshine for a walk or bundled up on your patio or porch for a little while will help to soothe and support you. Maybe making sleep a priority is what you’re being guided to focus on this month. Maybe you’re being guided to eat nourishing simple foods this month to support your system and keep yourself warm with soups and stews. Maybe you’re being guided to take good care of your nervous system right now by reducing or removing things that are overstimulating or overwhelming to the best of your ability and enjoying quiet or gentle sounds. Maybe you’re being guided to stay in the moment and enjoy the season that you’re in right now knowing that you’ll be in a new season soon. Maybe you’re being guided to cultivate your own personal recipe of overwintering this month that resonates just for you; perfect that is exactly what we’re all being guided to do. Investing in 1 thing per day even for the time it takes to make and enjoy a cup of tea is 100% supporting you in this important work of self care and building up your stores during the winter season.

One of the reasons you may feel like you need more rest or that you aren’t finding your energy to be consistent is that we’re still in a season of rest and refueling. Every time you have an opportunity to slow down or to take a moment for yourself, you’re investing in your energy stores. While we’re living in a time where we work pretty much around the clock, we still need to rest and on a deep level our soul and our bodies know that winter is a season of rest. You can invest in your rest while also getting the things on your to do list checked off. This month is the final full month of winter, give yourself permission to lean into all the things that make you think of winter. Choose to overwinter like the natural world around us. You and I are part of this cycle too, and sometimes we have to remind ourselves of this truth. When you think of winter and what winter means for you, you can find gems of what you’re personally being guided to focus on this month.

So, this month, during the shortest month of the whole year, maybe you can choose to invest in something each day that supports and uplifts you even if only for a seemingly small amount of time. I promise you that you’re worth it and that it will add up to big change. Just focus on one thing at a time and go at your own pace. Slow and steady is a beautiful theme for this month and for this reset that we’re all being guided to experience together. If you would like to work with me this month to gain some clarity about how you can personally make the most of this theme, I would love to support you. If there’s something else you would like to focus on, I would love to support you in any way that I can.

I’m wishing you a slow and gentle February, filled with kind people and things that rise up to greet you and comfort you. As always, I’m sending you love and support from my teeny tiny corner of the world, straight to you!

With love and gratitude,
Kristy~xoxo

February | A Month of Love

Hello and Happy February~

I hope this finds you well as we officially welcome this new month and new energy too. If you’ve been here for a while, you may know that this is my favorite month of the year. As the teeniest month of the year, there’s something special about setting intentions or curating a daily practice throughout the month of February. If it takes 21 days to create a healthy new habit; this month with 29 days (this year) gives us all an opportunity to invest in something we feel called to shift or nurture.

Have you been fine tuning your goals or intentions for this new year? Sometimes it takes a little while to shift into the new year energy and feel ready to begin moving through the themes or dreams you feel called to work on this year. What are some of the things that have been showing up for you? Have you been noticing any messages or nudges about what start with or how to begin? We often receive signs about what we’re being guided to focus on or work on but we may not notice that they’re actually messages or answers to questions we’ve been asking. Sometimes these messages show up as thoughts, or actual words or conversations you may hear over and over again from people you know or from people you pass on the street or in a movie or thread you read online.  Sometimes they may show up as memories or a deep knowingness of what to invest your attention in next. Sometimes you may see pictures, literal signs, or other things like book titles that resonate for you or meaningful songs that are all messages supporting you in this next phase of your life. If you feel like you could use some extra support in receiving your messages, all you have to do is ask your guides and angels for some clear signs in your physical world and you’ll begin to receive your messages in your day-to-day life.

One of the big themes that has been showing up for me lately, and maybe this will resonate for you too is a message about calm, care, and comfort. I think this is a very timely message, especially in a month that has a big theme about love baked right into it. When I think about February, one of the first things that shows up is love. Taking good care of oneself and the people in our lives is a very loving and worthwhile investment, don’t you think? Something that I find over and over for highly sensitive people (like yourself) however, is that it’s often much easier and more natural for sensitive souls to take good care of loved ones and to put themselves on the back burner. A very clear message that I’ve been receiving is about taking good care of ourselves first so that we can be a source of comfort, calm, and support for the people in our lives without burning ourselves out in the process.

As you’re streamlining your intentions for your new year, could you maybe include taking good care of yourself and making self love a healthy new habit during the month of February? If the thought of this makes you hold your breath, take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your mouth…good. (repeat if necessary) Like any new habit, you may feel a little wobbly at first but each day will get a little easier and before you know it, you’ll find that this is easier than you anticipated. I think you’ll find the benefits of taking good care of yourself will be exponential and a win for the people in your life too. You can choose one thing each day throughout the month that fills you up and makes you feel loved and taken care of and you can choose something different each day if you’d like. You get to decide how to honor this nudge to make this month of love a month that also focuses on loving yourself.

Loving yourself is the best gift you can give to yourself and the people you love. You may also find that you feel more grounded, focused, and clear when you begin this practice. This can help you to feel more centered in your life even when things get a bit stormy. Investing in this practice can help you to move through the changing tides with more flexibility and increased stability too. You may also inspire people around you to take better care of themselves as well.

With so much happening in the world around us that it can feel like one day is the equivalent of what once felt like a week of happenings; this theme is not only timely and supportive but it also feels like a salve to the soul. You don’t have to spend any money to honor this call to invest in self love throughout February. Choose to invest in things that support you that are readily available to you right now, today. There’s no one way to do this, only that ways that are right for you. Perhaps you’re receiving some messages and nudges about what some of these things might be right now as you’re reading this message. Trust the divine guidance that you’re receiving and allow yourself to say yes to investing in taking good care of yourself this month and making February a month of self love and the beginning of a healthy habit for you that you can enjoy for years to come. I promise, you’re 100% worth the investment!

If you feel guided to work with me this month, I would love to offer you some support; I’m here for you. I’ve included a special for you below starting today and going through the weekend, ending Sunday night 5 pm pacific time.

I’m wishing you a wonderful month filled with kind and loving people, experiences, and opportunities.

As always, I’m sending you so much support and love from my teeny tiny corner of the world straight to you!
Thank you so much for being here with me.
With deepest gratitude,
Kristy~xoxo

February, Tapping Into the Magic

Hello, I hope this finds you well as we welcome February and a brand-new energy.
This is one of my favorite times of the year because even though it’s still technically winter in the Northern Hemisphere, signs of new life and new energy begin to make themselves known every day. You may already feel the palpable energy that is happening all around you and within you too. As the days continue to get longer and the bulbs begin to bloom, you may notice that you have a renewed energy, inspiration, and excitement about your life. This increase in momentum, joy, or energy is mirrored back to us by Mother Nature as we all collectively move toward the quickening and into Spring.

This month is like magic because while it’s the shortest month of the year it provides us so much change in such a small amount of time. Each day of this little month will increasingly offer us more of this renewed energy and spirit as we move though this last part of the winter season. You can tap into this energy and February magic simply by allowing yourself to notice and enjoy this shift that is happening right now within and around you. There is no one way or right way to enjoy or work with this energy, it’s just about finding the ways that resonate for you.

This month is also noted for its themes around love, friendship, and kindness. I think these two seemingly different themes work beautifully together. You see, as you naturally lean into this energy of forward motion, you’ll automatically be connecting to this February magic. As you take good care of yourself, you’ll also be loving and honoring yourself too. As we take good care of ourselves, we have more energy which allows us to take good care of the people in our lives that we love, too.

I encourage you to have fun tapping into this new energy this month, even for a few minutes each day and see how it makes you feel. Maybe you’ll feel guided to begin this new month with a few goals in mind and invest a little bit of time each day to working on them. Maybe this month you’ll feel guided to do something kind or thoughtful for someone you know, even if that means sending them a note letting them know you’re thinking about them. Maybe you’ll feel guided to make time for a quiet cup of tea each day and a little self-reflection. Maybe you enjoy looking for signs of the quickening like I do and make an effort to look for the subtle but real signs that things are waking up all around us each day. I like to go for walks even if I have to bundle up and look for new bulbs, birds, and grasses showing up in places they weren’t only a few days before. This month always feels like it’s holding onto a little secret somehow and it’s filled with gifts for each of us in infinite ways as long as we allow ourselves the chance to see and receive them.

If I had to choose a theme for this month, I would choose, expect miracles. It may seem like a big theme for such a little month, however miracles happen every day. This is a month that can breathe new life into the places and spaces which may have felt stagnant for you; allowing for shifts and changes that you can see and experience. My wish for you is that you’ll allow yourself to open up to all of the gifts that are available to you during this magical month of February. I hope you’ll enjoy every single day of the teeniest month of the new year. If you feel guided to share how you’re tapping into this energy, I would love to hear from you!

I’m sending you so much love and support from my teeny tiny corner of the world straight to you!
All my love and gratitude,
Kristy~ xoxo

The Magic of February: Tapping Into the Quickening

Happy February!
I hope this finds you well as we move into the shortest month of the year.
While it may be the smallest month, it brings with it new energies and one of my favorite things of the year, the quickening. If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, you may notice that little signs of the quickening begin showing up around you here and there. The quickening is that quiet burst of energy that begins to push through the soil, plants, and even us.

You may notice that you start to have an increased energy, enthusiasm, a burst of creativity, or desire to move forward on some new projects or goals that have been on your mind or on your list. Just like the crocus, hyacinth, and orchards start to make their presence known; you may find that you have a renewed sense of zeal for the new things blooming in your life.

While we’re still in the midst of winter, there’s a feeling that things are slowly but surely picking up speed as we gently move toward a new season. You may feel this push pull within you this month too; one day you may feel guided to go slow and the next day you may feel a pull toward taking action. This ebb and flow is one of the things that I love about this month because we’re in that in between space that allows us to tune into our natural rhythms while we prepare for the new season.

If you’ve been experiencing a slow start to some of your new year things, that’s okay. In fact, this is a powerful time to review some of the things on your list and reassess how they feel for you and it’s a great time to add, subtract, or adjust accordingly. Remember, you get to decide if something is a priority or if it’s being set to the side for whatever reason.

This is also a good time to invest a little time in self care, especially if you’re wanting to increase or reintegrate self care into your routine. There are 28 days in February this year which means that if you choose to focus on doing something for yourself each day this month, it will be a healthy habit that you can more easily honor all year long. Research shows that it takes 21 days to create a new healthy habit, so by the end of the month, it will feel natural for you to continue your practice.

Sometimes when people hear the term self care it can create a little sense of pressure or feel like it’s one more thing to add to your daily list of tasks. However, it doesn’t have to be something that takes a lot of time in your day and there’s no one way or right way to cultivate a self care practice. Your way may look like someone else’s or it may be something that is uniquely yours. The only thing that really matters is that it’s an action that is supportive for you.

Here's a few simple and quick practices that can help you get an idea of some things that resonate for you.

  • Morning Mantra or Focus for the Day

  • 5 Minute Morning Meditation

  • Filling your Diffuser

  • Listening to or Playing Music

  • Journaling

  • Coloring

  • Reading for Pleasure

  • Going for a Walk

  • Drinking Water (maybe with lemon, or mint)

  • Saying yes to an activity that feels uplifting or supportive to you

  • Saying no to things, people, or activities which feel heavy or draining to you

  • Affirmations

  • Going to Sleep Early

  • Asking for Help if You Need Help

  • Baking Some Cookies

  • Making Your Favorite Meal

  • Learning Something New

  • Planting Some Flowers or Herbs

  • Clearing Out a Closet, Pantry, or Dresser

  • Starting a New Project or Working on an Existing Project

  • ______________________________

These are just a few ideas to help you get started on cultivating self care in your own daily life this month. You can choose something that takes only a few minutes or something that takes a bit more time. Sometimes, I think we forget that drinking water, remembering to breathe, and taking down time are very important parts of taking good care of ourselves; and they definitely count as self care. Just like adding money into a piggy bank, it adds up quickly and you are 100% worth the investment.

As you begin your new month, I invite you to tune into your own rhythms each day and connect with this energy of the ebb and flow that’s happening right now. It’s such a magical time of the year and it goes by quickly which adds to the whimsical quality of February. I hope your month is filled with forward motion while also being balanced with things, people, and activities which feel soothing, supportive, and honor your self care.

I’d love to hear how you’re moving through the quickening and the ways that you’re taking good care of yourself this month. I’m planning on doing a little bit of garden preparations, baking, and some winter canning too.

I’m sending you so much love and support from my teeny corner of the world right to you.
With Love and Gratitude,
Kristy~xoxo

Rewind. Reset. Refocus

paperwhites.jpg

Are you feeling that very specific feeling that sounds a bit like a record scratch? Yes, that is the sound of Mercury going into Retrograde…no need to panic but yes for a few weeks we’ll be receiving an opportunity to practice our Re’s. This retrograde is happening in the sign of Aquarius and will be with us until February 20th.

We’re just now coming off of that big full moon we had last week and are now riding the wave that is Mercury Retrograde, the first one for 2021. Some people get nervous about this time of year while others don’t really let it phase them. I think it’s a good idea to be aware that we’ve moved into the energy and have an idea of what to expect and some ways to add some extra support if we feel like we need it. You know, a little plan with some support systems built in, just in case…it feels like it’s a good idea overall.

One of the easiest ways to think about this time is in terms of the Re’s at least this is a really useful way for me, maybe it will be for you too.

So, think of or even make a little list of the Re’s that are showing up for you right now.

Here are a few to get you started:

Review
Rewind
Research
Revisit
Reconstruct
Rebuild
Reset
Refocus
Receive

If you’ve been working on healing you may find several of these Re’s on your list:

Rest
Restore
Renew
Replenish
Rejuvenate
Relax

If you’ve been to my office in the past, you may recognize this list as the message on the welcome board as you walked in for your session.

This is a time of slowing down and getting clear on what we’re needing to re-do so we’re ready to move or launch forward after this time is complete. So, if you can think of this as a time to double check what you’re working on and wrapping up what may be sitting on your to do list pile, you can more easily move into the slow flow of this energy.

Some of the more challenging aspects of this time can be having to actually go back and deal with the stuff that’s been put off for whatever reasons. This isn’t something that only you may not be fond of experiencing, it’s one of those things we can find a common ground on with other people in our circle.

Breathe.

It’s okay, sometimes we need a little push to get things going, including the things we wish someone else would tackle for us.

Another big area that shows up at this time is Confusion with Communication.
Imagine if you will the impact of your communications if everything you wrote and said was autocorrected like your phone tries to do to your text messages.

Yes, seriously.

So, a way to work around this fun little foible is to double and triple check the things you send out via email, text, voicemail, and yes even real life, real time talking. I know…so annoying, but it’s one of the fan favorites of Mercury Retrograde, giving us lots of opportunities to review our communications during this time.

Sometimes, even if you check and recheck, you may still find yourself in a situation where someone misunderstands you and you’ll be given an opportunity to repeat yourself in a way that the other person can actually hear you.

This brings me to the next big area which is Technology. Since most of us use tech for the majority of our communications, it makes sense that we’d be guided to do extra backing up, storage, and safety measures just for good housekeeping at this time.

I find the more that you can create a safety net for yourself at this time while simultaneously giving yourself some extra grace and building in extra cushion for yourself timewise, the gentler this time can be.

Some things to think about when creating the support system that’s right for you can include but isn’t limited to the following.

What kinds of themes have been showing up for me over the last several months?
What kinds of things have I been putting off due to whatever issues/reasons?
What frustrations or repeating challenges have been showing up in different areas of my life?
What issue/s do I want to be done with or clear out at this time?
What old habits or ways of living feel like they’re no longer serving me?
What do I know I need to be paying attention to right now?

As you tune into your stuff, you can find some ways to help yourself move through the areas that are requiring your attention right now.

I find that it helps to build in white space, don’t try to overpack your schedule right now.
Make room for the repeat, the review, and the restarts.

Think Grace, Space, and Pace

Treat yourself the same way you treat others you love, make space for yourself, and go slowly.

Retrogrades can be healing times, and opportunities for Renewal and Reawakening.

While we’re at the beginning of this time together, I hope that you’ll find this little message to be a supportive and gentle nudge to make this retrograde a time of respite and receptivity in the ways that resonate for you.

Even though we’re watching and experiencing another round of varying degrees of lockdowns and restrictions, I’m here for you and would love to work with you if you feel guided to receive some extra support from me at this time.

As part of my retrograde review, I’ll be remembering all of the wonderful times and experiences that I’ve had in my downtown offices over the last nearly 15 years. As just one of the many of people who’ve been professionally impacted by the lockdown orders in my home state; I’m sad to say that I’m another person who’s lost their physical location. I’ve been so blessed to be able to continue working with so many amazing people like yourself through distance sessions. I’ve been paying through my lease this whole time and while my lease is officially up in 60 days; I’ve already dismantled my office and released the things that didn’t come home with me to my home office.

If you came to see me at either of my downtown offices, thank you! If you’ve had a phone or distance session with me, thank you! If you read my last book which was almost exclusively written at my 3rd street office, thank you! I loved creating a space to help you rest, restore, and replenish and I’ve loved being able to give you real in person hugs too.

I continue to look forward to working with you in the same way we’ve been working together over the last 10 months, thank you from the bottom of my heart!

I’m sending you lots of love and support from my teeny corner of the world to you.

With love,
Kristy~xoxo
