Reaching for Peace

I hope this finds you well as we officially move into the final month of the year. If you celebrated Thanksgiving last week, I hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend and are recovering from all the yummy food and festivities.

As we move into December, we move full swing into the holiday season and can feel the tempo of the energy increasing as we move toward the end of the year. This time of year brings up all kinds of things for us no matter where we are or how old we are. This time of year can activate old memories, nostalgia, excitement, and an opportunity to participate in favorite activities that mark this season for you or to create or cultivate new traditions that you enjoy. It’s also a time that can feel like it takes on a rhythm all its own and sometimes it can feel like the season is moving too quickly or that you aren’t able to be fully present in the way you want. This experience is universal, it’s not a message that you aren’t doing something right or that you aren’t trying hard enough to hold onto the holiday season; it’s part and parcel of this movement toward the end of the year.

In addition to the holiday season we’re also wrapping up the remainder of the Autumn season in the Northern Hemisphere and moving into Winter on December 21st. There are so many things happening this month and we get to move through these shifts and changes all while honoring the season in the ways that are right for us. One of the ways you can capitalize on the gentility and quiet spaces between all the things happening this season is by reaching for peace. This is something that will be personal to you and allows you to reach for peace in the ways that resonate for you. For some, it may mean saying yes to the aspects of the season that bring the most joy and fulfillment. For others it may mean saying no to too many requests for time away from home. It may mean embracing the simple and significant moments that are meaningful for you and yours. It may be sitting in front of the fire with a cup of cider or caroling or ________________. It could be preparing a favorite holiday dish or simply enjoying the sparkling lights that are popping up all over houses, streets, and trees each day. There’s no one way or right way to reach for peace this season. There are only the ways that are right for you and yours. In fact, you may find that one day you choose something that feels right and another day something else is the exact right choice. It’s about finding the right balance between saying yes to the activities that are right for you while also saying no to the ones that aren’t a fit this year. I promise, you’ll know which ones are a yes and which ones are a no. Just check in with yourself and you’ll receive a clear message. By checking in with yourself throughout December, you’ll find that you automatically experience more peace and presence; and you may find that you feel more connected to the holiday season at the same time.

As we turn the final page on the calendar this year, it’s also natural to take a little time to reflect on all that you’ve experienced during 2023. This review process may have already started for you, maybe you’re already looking over the things you’ve done, how you’ve shifted, and the things you’re bringing with you into the new year. This is a good time to allow yourself to gently review your year while also letting yourself move through this process in the ways that feel right for you. Maybe you keep a journal and you feel guided to read through it to reflect on your year. Maybe you made a vision board this year and you feel guided to look over it and see what you experienced and what is still being created and still in progress. Maybe you keep a photo journal and feel guided to scroll through your life in pictures or video to reflect on your year. Taking a little time to move through this process and to glean any takeaways from the themes you experienced this year can be very supportive. Like most things this season, there’s no need to push or force this process, rather move through it in the ways that feel right for you.

While there are lots of things happening this month, here we are at the very beginning which allows you to choose how you want to move through this holiday season and the last month of 2023. I invite you to take a little time today or tomorrow to check in with yourself about how you want to celebrate December. Leaning into the season in the ways that resonate for you will allow you to experience more presence and more peace. Moving at your own pace will allow you to make the most of this time and yes, you’re worth it.

I’m wishing you and yours a very happy and healthy holiday season and a happy new year!

As always, I’m sending you love and support from my teeny tiny corner of the world, straight to you!
Thank you for sharing your year with me.
With love and deepest gratitude,
Kristy~ xoxo

Winding Down Within

Happy December, I hope this finds you well as we begin the final month of the year.

While I was thinking about this month and how it holds so much within it whether it’s holiday traditions, travel, time with loved ones, reflecting on the year, or preparing for the new year I was reminded how much polarity is held within December. There are so many things happening outwardly around us while we’re also being guided to slow down, to rest, and to enjoy the aspects of the season that speak to our souls. You may be feeling this experience already even though we’re at the very beginning of the month. If some of these things are already on your mind, that’s okay. This is a great time to take a few minutes to tune into your guidance about how you want to move through this time and this season.

You may have some special things on your list for this month that bring you joy, feel uplifting, and are restorative for you. Events, activities, and practices that resonate for you and that make you feel connected to this season; activities that are a definite yes for you. Your “definite yes” activities are wonderful and a powerful way to know which aspects of the season are calling to you this year. Sometimes, with so many invitations and activities, the things that can sometimes get set aside are the aspects of the season that involve quietly or gently nurturing ourselves. The cultivation of our inside care and comfort is as equally important as the other aspects of the season but often overlooked for a variety of reasons. When this happens, we can feel like we missed out on some of the joy or magic of the season because we weren’t able to fully experience it and take it in the way we hoped.

Something that can help is to think about ways you can honor your vision for the season and the things that are on your list while also taking good care of yourself; this can help create balance and a support system for you. I’ve included some exercises for you below to help you find the theme and aspects that are resonating for you this season. Please remember there are no wrong answers here and you can come back to this at any time you feel guided. This is just a way to connect to some ideas, inspiration, and guidance from your higher self about aspects of the season that are showing up for you this year.

Okay, let’s start with a deep breath, in through your nose and out through your mouth. Good, releasing any tension or stress in your neck, shoulders, or tummy, and one more breathe in and out. Good.

  • My Favorite thing about December is ___________________.

  • I look forward to ________________ all year because it makes it feel like the holiday season to me.

  • A tradition I still honor each season is ______________ and it makes me feel ______________ because______________.

  • I feel like I need more Joy, Happiness, Love, Peace, Grace, or ______________ this season.

Great job! I hope this helped you to find some strong themes, insights, and inspiration into ways that you can honor yourself and your holiday season this year. Please remember that seemingly small shifts lead to big success. Investing in one or two aspects of the things that are meaningful for you this season can make you feel more connected, present, and joyful during this time. You don’t have to do everything all by yourself and it’s okay to slow down a little bit as you enjoy December in the ways that are right for you and yours.

I’m wishing you and your loved ones a beautiful holiday season and a very happy new year!
If you feel guided to work with me this month, I’m here and available to support you.

Home for the Holidays

christmas stars.jpg

Welcome to December and the home stretch as we embrace the holiday season, and the end of the year.

I want to thank you for the thoughts, prayers, notes, and check in’s over the last few weeks as my community was impacted by the camp fire. It’s been a really intense time but my little community has rallied around our neighbors as we all deal with the aftermath of the fire and the flooding. Your kindness and support has meant so much to me.

One of the things that has been prescient for me at this time is that no matter where we are, we bring the holidays with us. Home is within us, it’s not necessarily one particular place, but rather home is in our hearts. We can create and celebrate the holiday season no matter where we are as long as we focus on the love that’s already within us.

I know that this time of year can bring up a lot of emotions, feelings, and memories. You may be separated from your loved ones, or you may be someplace that doesn’t necessarily feel like home. However, you can create a feeling of home by investing in the activities or experiences that feel like home for you.

  • Maybe it means spending time with your Framily, the friends that you consider family.

  • Maybe it means making a special meal or dessert which really anchors the holiday spirit for you.

  • Maybe it means volunteering or supporting someone who could use help this holiday season.

  • Maybe it means listening to a special record that makes you think about a loved one who is no longer here.

  • Maybe it’s wearing festive jammies and watching movies while eating popcorn.

  • Maybe it’s _____________________________.

The truth is that there’s no one way or right way to celebrate the holiday season. There are lots of ways to honor the traditions, joys, and special moments this month. By taking time to do a few things that fill you with love, you’ll bring the holiday’s home no matter where you are or who you’re with.

Please remember that while this month is often filled with hustle and bustle, and places to go and people to see; that it’s equally important to take some time to slow down. I know it seems counter intuitive to slow down during a busy season. However, it’s in the slowing down and paring down your list of to do’s that you’ll more easily enjoy the parts of the season that speak to you. The slowing down allows you to more fully experience the season.

It’s okay to pass on the activities that don’t feel like a fit this year and to embrace the ones that are genuinely right for you. You don’t have to explain why something isn’t a fit, you’ll know it in your heart and that’s more than enough of a reason.

So, this season, no matter where you are or who you’re with, I’m wishing you a gentle, supportive, and joyful season. Let being home for the holidays mean being filled with the joy and love that’s with you right now, inside your heart.

I’m sending you so much love and I’m wishing you a very peaceful and blessed holiday season.
With gratitude and love,
Kristy~xoxo
